Day 90, 2010

In loving memory of my mother. Today marks the anniversary of the date my mother lost her battle with cancer. I try to celebrate her life, not grieve for our loss. She was the best mom a child could ever want. She was the sweetest most caring friend, daughter and mother you could ever know. She had the best sense of humor and made me roll my eyes more times than I can count when I was a young one, I came to appreciate her sense of humor much more as I got older. I will probably do a digital layout in memory of today and I'll post it later, but for now I give you two of my favorite photos of her. She was so pretty.

Day 88, 2010

OK, so I'm cheating for my photo today. I took this Saturday at Alex's first game of his Senior year. I posted on Saturday about Bailey, but I don't want this great day to go unnoticed. Alex's team won. Did I mention, he's captain of the team this year?!?!? Wooohooo! Also, we (Doug and I) cooked for the team - 100 hot dogs for about 18 boys and three coaches.. they ate EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM! There were supposed to be more boys, but the JV team left or didn't show up by the time we ate. Some of the boys ate 8 hot dogs! That's just gross! LOL

Day 88, 2010

Doug hung this bird feeder right outside my kitchen window so that I could maybe attract some birds to take photos of.... he saw one bird, but so far I've not seen a single one. Hopefully they will all be coming back soon. We usually get a ton of humming birds at our hummingbird feeder, but it's still early for them.

It's a rainy and dreary day today, I've done some digi work, some cards, a bit of scrapping... none of it knocked my socks off, but I needed a photo for the day..

I actually took this photo yesterday. Today we went to Alex's first baseball game of the season, when we came home we found Bailey, she had been hit and somehow made it up the driveway where she laid to rest for the final time. ... so sad. We love you Bailey Boo.... :( Bye Bailey.

Day 84, 2010

I'm taking the J. Sprague Type + Writer class. Today's assignment included a self portrait. She suggested taking it in the mirror. I took this this morning so the lighting wasn't good and hence the flash went off and reflected off the mirror. I'm going to work on fixing it, but I went ahead and put it on my layout. Didn't do much at all today to take a photo. Dreary day and uneventful. We did watch the newly released DVD version of Brothers. Good movie, starts slow, but stick with it.

OK, so it's a tree in my backyard. My objective.. "take a picture from an unexpected angle". Hopefully this will be full of leaves very soon.

I had several possible pictures of the day today, but this one stole my heart. Out back we have an old whiskey barrel that normally holds this pot with a big fern in it. Since we don't have the weather for the fern yet, it's just sitting there looking ugly.... but yesterday, Lilly decided the fern pot was good place to chill.

My little corner of heaven! This is the desk where I make "stuff" LOL. My little room. It's jammed packed, floor to ceiling. My paper storage, shevling, stamps, etc, etc. are directly behind the desk on the opposite wall. It's a small corner room that used to be a workshop to a garage, the owners of this house years ago converted the garage to a big family room and this room is just off of it. It's perfect, I am right where the action is and I can close the door on the mess! :)

My friend, Robyn, who lives in Florida goes to a Strawberry Festival every year. She was sweet enough to share some of the goodies with me. I received this jar in the mail yesterday. If it's anything like last years, it's super super yummy!! Thanks Ro!

Also, Happy St. Paddy's Day everyone. I was going to post a picture of my Corned Beef and Cabbage, but it's really not a very pretty dish! LOL

Went outside trying to find something to take a picture of (besides my pets).. and this little Robin was the only life I saw outside. No leaves on the trees yet, but the birds are starting to come back...woohoo spring is coming.

I stopped at the local camera store to sign up for some classes and to get a bag for my camera and the President of the business waited on me, he was so nice, he asked about my camera (I didn't get it from him), then he gave me quite a few pointers on how to use it. He took this photo as part of my impromptu lesson.

I challenged Doug to make a card. I gave him a set of materials (you can see them in the picture) and challenged him to make a card. He is very artistic, so I was intrigued to see what he'd come up with. After he made his card, I made a card with the exact same set of materials. I'm not going to tell you which is which, but here's our finished cards. He was a very good sport about it.

Lilly and Lacey again. Sorry folks, but they are just too cute! I am going to use the top photo for my POD, but I couldn't resist showing you the series. They are so sweet together. They are sisters, my cat Izzy had them last August.
