In loving memory of my mother. Today marks the anniversary of the date my mother lost her battle with cancer. I try to celebrate her life, not grieve for our loss. She was the best mom a child could ever want. She was the sweetest most caring friend, daughter and mother you could ever know. She had the best sense of humor and made me roll my eyes more times than I can count when I was a young one, I came to appreciate her sense of humor much more as I got older. I will probably do a digital layout in memory of today and I'll post it later, but for now I give you two of my favorite photos of her. She was so pretty.

Day 88, 2010
OK, so I'm cheating for my photo today. I took this Saturday at Alex's first game of his Senior year. I posted on Saturday about Bailey, but I don't want this great day to go unnoticed. Alex's team won. Did I mention, he's captain of the team this year?!?!? Wooohooo! Also, we (Doug and I) cooked for the team - 100 hot dogs for about 18 boys and three coaches.. they ate EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM! There were supposed to be more boys, but the JV team left or didn't show up by the time we ate. Some of the boys ate 8 hot dogs! That's just gross! LOL

Day 84, 2010
I'm taking the J. Sprague Type + Writer class. Today's assignment included a self portrait. She suggested taking it in the mirror. I took this this morning so the lighting wasn't good and hence the flash went off and reflected off the mirror. I'm going to work on fixing it, but I went ahead and put it on my layout. You can see the layout on my other blog "Lorrie's Story" if you're interested.

An extra thought
If any of you would like a copy of my week templates so far, I'm happy to share. I appreciate you taking the time to comment and visit and would be happy to give you one as thank you. Just let me know which week you want. You can find them here. The first two January ones are from a template that is not mine, but any of the ones after that in Jan/Feb/March ones are available as they are originals. Kelly did a template give away as a thank you, I got the idea from her. Thanks K! Just email me a note and I'll email you the template.

Day 78, 2010
I had several possible pictures of the day today, but this one stole my heart. Out back we have an old whiskey barrel that normally holds this pot with a big fern in it. Since we don't have the weather for the fern yet, it's just sitting there looking ugly.... but yesterday, Lilly decided the fern pot was good place to chill.

Day 77, 2010
My little corner of heaven! This is the desk where I make "stuff" LOL. My little room. It's jammed packed, floor to ceiling. My paper storage, shevling, stamps, etc, etc. are directly behind the desk on the opposite wall. It's a small corner room that used to be a workshop to a garage, the owners of this house years ago converted the garage to a big family room and this room is just off of it. It's perfect, I am right where the action is and I can close the door on the mess! :)

Day 76, 2010
My friend, Robyn, who lives in Florida goes to a Strawberry Festival every year. She was sweet enough to share some of the goodies with me. I received this jar in the mail yesterday. If it's anything like last years, it's super super yummy!! Thanks Ro!
Also, Happy St. Paddy's Day everyone. I was going to post a picture of my Corned Beef and Cabbage, but it's really not a very pretty dish! LOL

Day 74, 2010
I stopped at the local camera store to sign up for some classes and to get a bag for my camera and the President of the business waited on me, he was so nice, he asked about my camera (I didn't get it from him), then he gave me quite a few pointers on how to use it. He took this photo as part of my impromptu lesson.

Day 71, 2010
I challenged Doug to make a card. I gave him a set of materials (you can see them in the picture) and challenged him to make a card. He is very artistic, so I was intrigued to see what he'd come up with. After he made his card, I made a card with the exact same set of materials. I'm not going to tell you which is which, but here's our finished cards. He was a very good sport about it.

Day 70, 2010
This is Alex and his best friend, Myles. Ashlea has begun to call Myles "My other brother". LOL He and Alex have put the guest room TV in Alex's room and then they both sit and play their Playstations at the same time on two different televisions. Please don't look at Alex's room, afterall "It the cleanest of all his friends!"... Oy.. I stopped going in there! People have been known to go in and never be seen again! LOL

Day 69, 2010
I sat down in my craftroom today and wanted to make a card. Let me tell you, I started out with a whole different setup, ripped it all apart, did another version of this where the pink part was white and the flower was stamped and colored... ripped that off and started a third time... still not real happy with this, but wow.. ever have one of those evenings where you just want to throw something simple together and things just don't "jive"!?!?

Day 67, 2010
Today Ashlea and I took my son, Alex, and his friends for an official visit to Indiana University where they have all already been accepted to for this Fall as Freshmen. It's just under a 4 hour drive, we got up bright and early and headed down to Bloomington, we had just enough time to stop at the bookstore and then go to the infamous Mother Bear's for one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Then we had an informational meeting followed by a campus tour and dorm tour, then it was back in the car.. we just got home. Long day, but it was fun. I would've taken more campus pictures, but I didn't want to embarass them too much. They were great about posing for the photos I did take.

Day 65, 2010
My friends, Jodie (brown shirt) and Lori (Blue shirt). We went to a couple of really small towns today thrifting. It was a great time. I picked up some really great deals. We were on the hunt for scrapping things, but found several other items. Jodie and Lori and I went to school together from 3rd grade until we graduated. The two of them even longer than that.

Day 63, 2010
I do believe Spring has sprung. We had a whopping 40 degrees today and that bright shiny mythical thing has reappeared in the sky! People were outside without coats today and wearing sunglasses with their windows down.... welcome to INDIANA! Isn't this a cute picture of Katie sunbathing?!!!?! She's so happy to be outside and not running through snow.

Day 62, 2010
My future son in law is absolutely great at drawing.. I mean he really has talent! I just got a wacom tablet for my computer to use with my Photoshop and I challenged him to draw my daughter. Now, mind you, this is totally different than an artist with a pencil, I have been practicing and still cannot sign my name so that it looks like it really does and Richie has NEVER used a WACOM tablet, ever... look at what he did tonight.
I've also included a picture of a drawing he did of Ashlea with a traditional pencil and tablet so you can see that he's very talented. I'm so amazed at what he could do with the tablet. He's not happy with the results because it's not as good as he can do with traditional pencil... this is just a sample that I had handy...

Day 61, 2010
This is a picture of a vase...obviously. I took this picture because every since I started dating Doug I have somehow started getting vases as gifts. I have quite a collection. He always finds very unique ones. This one is one of my favorites, but you can't really see the detailing (thanks to my lack of photography knowledge). It is really pretty. He always picks something totally unexpected. I've got mod vases, antique vases, crystal vases, pottery, etc. Anywho... here's my POD.. a vase. (Not an EYEBROW... LADIES!) :)
